Scholarship Opportunites

Eddy County Fair Association offers two scholarships annually in the amount of $1,000 each.

The scholarships are open to graduating seniors from any school in Eddy County who has participated in the Eddy County Fair as an exhibitor in any division, including proficiency and livestock.

Announcements of the winners will be announced at the Livestock Sale in July. The application will be made available to all the counselors in every High School in Eddy County and on the Eddy County Fair Website.

One student from North Eddy County and one student for South Eddy County will be selected. As the Eddy County Fair Association Directors equally represent the north and south portions of the county, directors on the North will review the applications from the South and select a student from the South, and the directors on the South will review the applications from the North and select a student from the North. Directors who have direct relations with any applicant within the applicant pool they are reviewing will recuse themselves from the review process.

Considerations include: financial need, GPA, leadership qualities, and participation in the Eddy County Fair. There is no consideration to outcomes and results of applicants' competitions in the Eddy County Fair. Plans for a career in agriculture also is not a prerequisite for consideration.

Scholarship awards will be paid directly to the selected students as a one-time payment. Students are required to submit a letter to the Eddy County Fair Association by December 20 of the award year explaining how the scholarship funds were used.

Each year the Eddy County Fair Association awards a scholarship to a High School Senior from Eddy County. To raise funds for this scholarship the Fair Board will hold its Annual Raffle.

Each 4-H and FFA organization in Eddy County can participate in selling the raffle tickets. The tickets sell for $5.00 each. The proceeds go to the Eddy County Fair Association Scholarship Fund. For more information contact any Fair Board Member.
